Rams Update for Week 8:
n
On the injury front,
Rams head coach Scott Linehan stated that he felt Steven Jackson had a likely
hood of returning to the lineup against Cleveland. Jackson has missed four games with a partially
torn groin. It is also likely that
Dane Looker will return from a leg injury.
Dante Hall is out with an ankle injury and it is doubtful center Brett Romberg will play with two sprained ankles. A determination will be made on Drew Bennett’s hamstring injury by Friday.
Leonard Little has torn ligaments in his big toe and his status remains
day-to-day.
n
The Rams 0-7 start is
their worst in franchise history.
The Rams are currently averaging 11.3 points per game, which is the worst
in the NFL through 7 weeks.
n
Even though television
cameras showed Marc Bulger rolling his eyes at Linhan, both Bulger and the Rams
coach dismissed the gesture as nothing more than an argument in the heat of
competition. As expected, both
downplayed the incident. Linehan
felt he needed to get rid of the ball instead of taking a sack inside the red
zone.
n
Even with a 0-7 record,
the Rams defense has played pretty well of late. They have moved up to 18th in
the league in team defense, allowing 330 yards of offense per game. Against the run, the Rams have been much
improved, allowing just over 127 yards rushing per game. They have kept some of the top backs in
the league in check and under 100 yards rushing.
n
With the return of
safety Corey Chavous, the Rams had their starting 11 defensive players on the
field for the first time together all season.
