The Rams wrapped up practice on Friday,
here are some notes from the session plus the remarks made by head coach Scott
Linehan after practice:
-- It appears Isaac Bruce, Corey Chavous, and Brett Romberg will all play on Sunday. Determinations on
Drew Bennett and Dane Looker will be made at game time. Steven Jackson has
again been ruled out with a groin injury.
-- After Linehan's outburst directed
at the team on Thursday, guard Claude Terrell made a public apology to the coach
and to the team after practice.
(Linehan Opening Remarks)
“(Drew) Bennett is questionable. (Isaac)
Bruce is probable. (Marc) Bulger is probable. (Corey) Chavous is probable. Dante Hall is out. Torry Holt is probable. Steven Jackson is out. Leonard Little is
probable. Dane Looker is questionable. (Brett) Romberg is
probable.”
(On if the team had a better practice today
than yesterday)
“Yes, it was great, outstanding, very, very
good.”
(On the team being more healthy now than
it’s been in awhile)
“We went down in a valley and we’re playing
them back up as far as injuries go.”
(On if C Brett Romberg took snaps with the
first unit)
“Yes.”
(On if Romberg will play
Sunday)
“That’s the plan right
now.”
(On if QB Marc Bulger will
start)
“Bulger’s been good. It’s the best he’s
felt since before he got those ribs (injuries).
(On LB Pisa Tinoisamoa has played as well
as his numbers say)
“Yes. The production he’s getting, the
tackles he’s had. He gets the interception and is starting to show up all over
the field. The fact that he is 100 percent is really a benefit for him. He’s
been nagged a little bit until now. I think he feels real
good.”
(On if Tinoisamoa’s play is the reason the
Rams defense has improved)
“That’s a big factor. Our front
players have had a lot to do with it because that helps Pisa, Will (Witherspoon) and those guys. You see them
with a lot of production, not your safeties. That’s what you want to
see.”
(On how much help DE James Hall has
provided upfront)
“He was a big, great addition to our front.
You see him getting more and more comfortable. He had a very good game, I
thought his best game, last week. He’s also showed he’s a guy that can play with
a little bit of an injury and some pain. He has a really sore pectoral and
played through it and never missed anything. That’s great leadership there as
well as his playing ability.”
(On if WR Dante Hall is the only player
that did not practice on Friday)
“Yes. Steven (Jackson) essentially took some reps. He’s close, but not
ready.”
(On the last time everyone practiced except
one)
“Preseason.”
(On if QB Gus Frerotte gets the same amount
of reps in case Bulger is injured)
“The starter takes the starter’s reps. Gus
takes all the show teams. That’s how he’s always gotten himself ready. He’s been
around long enough to know how to do that.”
(On if there is any special preparation for
Frerotte this week)
“No, pretty much the same as what we did
all the time before and all last year.”
(On S Todd Johnson earning a more
significant role on defense)
“Todd will probably play some. You never
know how the game is going to go, but because of the nature of Corey’s injury.
He took a lot of reps anyway this week. I wouldn’t be surprised if he played a
number of plays in this game just because Corey’s been out for a few (games) and
if he has any kind of setback Todd has to be ready to go anyway. We don’t
anticipate it, but he may play some just based on how Corey’s conditioning is,
but I wouldn’t think it would be a problem.”
(On if newly acquired WR Travis Taylor has shown a strong enough grasp on the offense to be active against
Seattle)
“I think so. We’re going to meet on it and
consider a couple things. One thing is Dane (Looker) came back a lot quicker
than I thought (he would). Dane has looked good the last two days, but we
brought Travis in for a reason and we definitely have to back ourselves up at
the outside receiver position right now.”
(On speed being one of Taylor’s attributes)
“He runs very well. I think his best thing
is he kind of can move around and play in the slot, but his number one thing is
he’s an experienced receiver and has a little bit of size. I think that helps
kind of compliment the receiving corps we have.”
(On how DE Leonard Little looked in
practice)
“He didn’t do a whole lot. He did enough to
get himself ready, mainly because it’s a pain tolerance thing. He’ll be ready to
go and fine on Sunday, but still it was a little tender today. He’s going to be
fine. He’s played through a sore foot before.”
(On how the team responded during Friday’s
practice)
“I thought they were very, very focused; I
think that’s probably the best word. Very few repeats, if any, that I saw and I
think they’re ready to go.”
(On the NFC West still being up for
grabs)
“I think we have to look at that and feel
fortunate at this point. We just have to take advantage of
it.”
