(Opening Remarks)
“(Drew) Bennett was very limited (in
practice). Isaac Bruce was full practice. Marc Bulger is fine. Corey Chavous was
full (practice). We’re still evaluating him. Dante Hall is out. Torry Holt was
full (practice) today. Steven Jackson was limited. He took some more reps today.
Leonard Little did not practice. He should be able to play in the game. It’s
more pain on his big toe and extremely hard for him to do anything this week
until we get the swelling out. Dane Looker was limited, but he’s improving.
Brett Romberg took a fair amount of snaps and looked pretty
good.”
(On if he is surprised by C Brett
Romberg’s progress from injury)
“Not really. It wasn’t that serious
of an ankle sprain. It’s serious enough to miss yesterday. He sprained it. The
fact it wasn’t a high ankle sprain, I would have thought he would’ve have been
able to come out and do something today. He did quite a bit.”
(On if he expects Romberg to play on
Sunday)
“I’m hoping so.”
(On why practice ended a few minutes
early)
“We’ve cut back a certain amount of
snaps because of the limitations we have. We usually get done at about
12:50 in the second quarter of the
season.”
(On if RB Steven Jackson did more in
practice today than he did on Wednesday)
“Yeah, he did a little bit more. Not
a whole lot more, but he did a little bit.”
(On if he expects Jackson to play on Sunday)
“We’ll see. He’s not
out.”
(On if Jackson will
start or not play at all)
“We wouldn’t play him just to be a
depth player. He’d be in there as our back if we played him.”
(On how QB Marc Bulger looks
throwing the ball)
“He feels much better. It’s hard to
throw out here today. The wind was blowing about 100 miles an hour. He had a
real good day yesterday. At the end of the day he was fine too. I don’t think we
had as many completions as we normally would have.”
(On if CB Tye Hill and CB Fakhir Brown will start at corner and CB Ron Bartell will be used in the “nickel’
package)
“Yeah. Ronnie (Ron Bartell), he hurt
his thumb and it could affect his ability to get his hands on people. That would
have been considered either way.”
(On if he was unhappy at
practice)
“No it didn’t have anything to do
with practice. It’s personal. It’s between the team and me.”
(On if team spirits are where they
need to be)
“Our team spirits are going to be
what they are. Right now, at where we are, I think guys are hungry for a win. It
doesn’t necessarily mean people are happy around here. I heard from somebody,
they’re concerned abut how we feel about winning and losing. I can tell you it’s
not good to lose and nobody feels good about it. Everybody’s focused on getting
a win. Team spirits will be much better once we start
winning.”
(On the team being happy
yesterday)
“It was upbeat. I don’t know if
anyone sits around happy at 0-6. Nobody’s happy, but everybody was
upbeat.”
(On how disruptive Seattle LBs
Julian Peterson and Lofa Tatupu are)
“They’re different positions, but
they’re both great players. You have to account for them. They’re two of 11 guys
that play at the same time. They bring different things. Peterson is going to be
a guy they’re going to be bringing as an end in a lot of pass rushes. He has six
sacks and he changes games with his ability. The other kid (Tatupu) is just all
over the field. He just makes a lot of plays.”
(On the overall challenges of facing
the Seattle defense)
“It’s not the biggest defense we’ve
faced, but they’re definitely quick. They’ve gotten a lot of sacks and a lot of
negative plays. It’s set up for them where if they get you in long yardage in
third down or get the lead, they have a great advantage.”
(On why he thinks Seattle RB Shaun Alexander has struggled this season)
“People put a lot of time into
stopping him. They put of people up there (near the line of scrimmage) and force
them to go another direction, real similar to the things we get when Steven
(Jackson) is playing. They make you spread the ball around.
It’s early in the season. I’m sure he’s had fast starts and slower starts and
great middles. Right now he’s like a lot of players, people are keying in on
him. We’d like to keep it that way at least for another
week.”
(On if he considered moving practice
inside due to the wind)
“Some, but we needed to do some
kicking. You can’t do any punting or anything (inside) and we still have to work
in some elements. Yesterday, because it was going to rain so bad, we moved in,
mainly for safety. We want to work outside at least once this
week.”
