The Rams lost on Sunday 34-31 to the Arizona Cardinals, dropping to 0-5 on the season.
It is the worst start for St. Louis since 2002 when they started the
season 0-5 as well. The 2002 Rams
went on to finish the year with a 7-9 record. The worst start to a season previous to
2002 was a 0-6 start in 1962, a Rams team that went 1-12-1 under head coach Bob
Waterfield.
Here are some notes from the Edward Jones
Dome:
n
The Rams were hit
with more injuries on Sunday against the Cardinals. Safeties Jerome Carter (foot) and Todd Johnson (neck) were both injured in the game, with Carter suffering a right foot
fracture and Johnson a sprained neck.
Ron Bartell played safety in their absence. Kick return man Dante Hall suffered a
sprained left ankle; his status is unclear for next week.
n
As expected the Rams
placed Guard/Tackle Adam Goldberg on injured reserve in order to activate Fakir
Brown. Brown had a nice game in his
return to the lineup, picking off the Cardinals twice.
n
Rams rookie running
back Brian Leonard had a very nice game, scampering for his first 100-yard game
of the season. Leonard rushed for
102 yards on 18 carries, good for 5.7 yards per attempt. Leonard also had 33 yards receiving in
the Rams loss.
n
The healthy inactives
for the Rams were Tackle Jeremy Parquet and Center Nick Leckey. The other six spots on the game day
inactive list were from the Rams “walking wounded,” which included: Isaac Bruce, Corey Chavous, Dane Looker,
Tye Hill, Raonell Smith, and Steven Jackson.
